Splitting tuition between two parents

Give each guardian their own invoice for their share — by percentage or fixed amount. Parents can propose a split; the center approves it.

When two parents split a child's tuition, you shouldn't have to send one invoice and then chase half of it. A billing split gives each guardian their own invoice for their share, which they pay with their own card or autopay.

Two ways to split

  • By percentage — each guardian is billed a share that adds up to 100% (for example 60% / 40%). Every line item on the bill — tuition, supply fees, a sibling discount — is divided the same way.
  • By fixed amount — one or more guardians pay an agreed flat amount each cycle, and one guardian covers the remainder. If the total changes because a fee or discount is added, the remainder payer absorbs the difference.

Who sets it up

Either a staff member or a parent can start a split:

  1. A parent proposes it from their billing settings. The other guardian has to accept it, then the center approves it.
  2. A staff member sets it up directly from the child's profile — this takes effect right away.

Only one split is active per child at a time. Approving a new one replaces the old one.

A split only changes who is billed. It doesn't change the total, and each guardian still only sees their own invoices.

When a guardian is removed

If a guardian is taken off a child, any split that named them is cleared and the child goes back to a single invoice for the billing contact. Set up a new split when you're ready.

Getting started

  • Parents: open Billing in your portal and look for Billing splits.
  • Staff: open the child's profile, go to the Family tab, and use Billing split.
